How to play

Lane Runner: Endless is a free 3D run-and-gun horde shooter that runs in your browser. You lead a squad of soldiers down an endless ruined city. Your squad fires automatically: your job is to steer. Pick the right gates to grow your squad, dodge traps, survive ambushes and beat the boss at the end of every sector.

Works on desktop and mobile browsers. No download, no account and no sign-up needed.

Your first run

  1. Press Play on the title screen. You start with a small squad (4 soldiers, more after Armory upgrades) holding a Carbine.
  2. Steer left and right as the squad advances. The big number above your squad is how many soldiers you have. If it reaches zero, the run ends.
  3. Drive through good gates to add and multiply soldiers, and pick up weapon upgrades from gold gates and supply crates.
  4. Watch the ground for warnings and move out of traps before they fire.
  5. At the end of the sector, a boss blocks the road. Defeat it, choose one of three perk cards, and keep going into the next sector.
  6. When your squad is wiped out, the results screen shows your distance, kills, bosses, peak squad, time, score and coins earned. Spend coins in the Armory and try again.

Gates: grow your squad

Gates come in rows across the road. Your whole squad passes through the gate you steer into, so read them early. Every row has at least one clearly good option.

BlueHelpful

Adds soldiers (for example +4) or multiplies your squad (×2). Multipliers are strongest when your squad is already big.

RedHarmful

Subtracts or divides your squad. Avoid them unless every other lane is worse.

GoldWeapons & stats

Upgrades your weapon or a squad stat. Gold gates with a number grow when you shoot them, so line up behind them early.

PurpleGamble

A risky gate with an uncertain result. Great when you're behind, dangerous when you're ahead.

Weapon ladder: Carbine → Burst Rifle → Heavy Rifle → Shotgun → LMG → Minigun → Ion Rifle. Heavier weapons hit harder and pierce through more zombies.

Also shoot supply crates for weapon upgrades, grenades and medkits, and free soldiers from rescue cages to add them to your squad.

Traps

There are eight trap types. Traps hit individual soldiers, so a wide squad that clips a trap loses only the soldiers inside it. Every trap warns you first with flashing lights, red shadows or glowing nozzles.

Explosive barrels damage everything nearby, zombies included. Shoot them when a horde is close. Turrets and barricades can be destroyed with gunfire.

Enemies

Walkers & runners

The bulk of every horde. Runners are fragile but fast.

Brutes

Huge, slow and very tough. Brute smashes kill several soldiers at once. Focus fire or throw a grenade.

Retchers & blisters

Retchers spit acid from range. Blisters burst when they die, so kill them before they reach you.

Riot zombies

Carry a frontal shield that blocks bullets. Piercing weapons and perks help.

Wailers

Buff nearby zombies. Kill them first.

Elites

Glowing zombies that hit harder and have special powers.

Lurker ambushers

Some creatures don't come from the front. Leapers and Quillers drop from rooftops, and Gulpers burrow up from underground. The Howler is a massive late-game threat. Watch for cracking ground and movement on the buildings.

Bosses

Each sector (about 600 m) ends with a boss arena. Every boss is procedurally generated from a random body, a set of modifiers and an attack set: charges, ground slams, shockwaves, acid, summoned zombies, sweeps and thrown boulders. Bosses get more dangerous in phases as they lose health.

Bosses mark every attack on the ground before it lands. Step out of the red. Save grenades for bosses and medkits for after a big loss.

Abilities, perks and the Armory

Sectors, threat and the Daily Run

The city rotates through five themes: Downtown Dusk, Industrial Docks, Quarantine Zone, Burning Highway and Cemetery Fog. Threat rises every sector, which means tougher zombies, denser hordes, more elites and faster traps.

Daily Run uses the date as its seed, so every player gets the same city that day. It's a fair way to compare scores with friends.

Score and progress

You score points for distance travelled, zombies killed and bosses defeated. Your best score, best distance, coins, Armory upgrades and settings are saved in your browser on this device. There is no account, so clearing your browser's site data resets your progress. See the privacy policy for details.

Settings

Open Settings from the title screen or the pause menu to adjust music and sound-effect volume, graphics quality (low, medium, high), reduced motion, damage numbers and screen shake. If the game runs slowly, lower the graphics quality.
